High-Quality, Personalized Care with a Unique Practice Model

A Wise Move Physical Therapy and Pilates PLLC was begun in 2019 in response to the changing environment in outpatient clinics.  It has become common practice for clinics to schedule two, three or even more clients within an hour time slot.  That makes it very challenging to provide individualized, high-quality patient care or to see the same clients each time they come to the clinic.  Dr. Fisher’s treatment approach keeps her very involved in the quality of movement during each exercise as well as using hands-on techniques.  She wanted to have a setting where she could still provide that same high-quality one-to-one care for a full professional hour and work with her clients throughout their rehab experience.

We began by providing cash-pay physical therapy services in addition to Pilates-based fitness sessions at several Pilates studios in Tucson and Oro Valley. We know many folks would like to use their insurance, so we are happy to announce we are now able to accept PRIMARY MEDICARE INSURANCE and bill on your behalf.  Just provide a referral from your primary care physician.

Most other insurances, including Medicare replacement plans, operate in networks with larger therapy companies, so they charge high fees to participate or do not accept new members.  Unfortunately, that limits plans that we are able to participate with for billing.  However, you may still submit all physical therapy receipts for reimbursement to your insurance plans, which will typically consider our clinic as an out-of-network provider.  You will also receive a discounted cash-pay rate, if you pay us directly, which helps you take advantage of additional savings. We want you to be able to take advantage of services within our care model as a smaller practice with more one-to-one attention.

Our dedicated space at the corner of Oracle & Magee Roads in Tucson/Oro Valley, AZ is an exciting new venture, which will expand our available hours and allow us to grow the services and options we can provide for you and the community.

*Orthopedic Clinical Specialist with the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)

*Certified Applied Functional Science (CAFS) Practitioner with Gray Institute

A native of Tucson, Heidi Fisher is a licensed physical therapist with specialty certifications in orthopedic (OCS) and manual therapy (CMPT).  She is also a Certified Pilates Teacher (CPT) through the national Pilates Method Alliance (PMA).  She received her undergraduate degree at Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon and spent time working with the National Park Service, as well as in the legal, credit and hotel industries.  She was awarded her Masters in Physical Therapy from the University of New Mexico in 2005 and spent the next 4 years serving with the US Public Health Service on the Navajo Indian Reservation as a physical therapist.  She continued her specialty training with the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT), receiving her CMPT designation in 2014 and completed her Doctor of Science in Manual Physical Therapy (DScPT) soon after from Andrews University.

She established the first hospital-based Pilates program in Tucson for Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital, and worked as a highly regarded specialty therapist and mentor in the outpatient clinic.   She first experienced Pilates and its rehabilitative benefits while working at a PT clinic in Tucson.  She saw the great value of Pilates as a complement to traditional therapy services, so she completed the rehabilitation track of the Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training with Polestar Pilates in 2014.  She also incorporates other techniques and approaches, including Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT®) and Applied Functional Science (CAFS) to help find the best approach to help each client achieve his or her best outcomes.

She also continues to broaden her learning to allow more options to optimize your care plan and help you achieve your goals. More recently, she has begun continuing education training related to scar tissue release with McLoughlin MSTR®, Visceral Manipulation with the Barral Institute and Craniosacral Therapy with the Upledger Institute. As a physical therapist, she is able to immediately apply those new skills and techniques for your benefit.

Every individual she works with gets customized one-on-one care, which we each deserve, but often struggle to find in today’s healthcare environment.  When she has a spare moment or two, you might find her on the dance floor, relaxing with her dogs and cats and a good book, playing cards with friends, or trying her hand at quilting, baking or writing.

Our goal at A Wise Move Physical Therapy and Pilates PLLC is to restore your mobility, keep you moving and ensure your rehabilitation is effective, efficient and stress-free. We value individualized full-length sessions between you and your therapist, so that you get the personalized attention you deserve.

We look forward to working with you!
